Fewer tools to juggle, more work finished.

As Lead UX Designer, I redesigned an internal tool that financial analysts at Citibank rely on, and helped bring the work they did across several tools into one place.

Shared with care. This work is under NDA. I can share the shape of the problem and the process here, but not screens, data or internal names. I'm happy to walk through more detail live.

01Problem
The problem

Simple tasks, too many steps.

Financial analysts did their routine work across several tools. The internal tool at the center of that work made simple tasks slower than they needed to be, so the job spread across screens and workarounds.

Research

Starting with the analysts.

I began with the people doing the work: how they moved through a task, which tools they used along the way, and where time was lost.

Map

One picture of the workflow.

I mapped the work across the tools analysts used and decided what belonged together in one place, so the redesign followed the job rather than the old screens.

Design

Built around the most frequent tasks.

The redesign put the tasks analysts did most within fewer steps, and brought related work into the same tool.

Measure

Measured on task completion.

We tracked how many tasks analysts completed with the new design, the clearest signal that the tool was getting out of their way.

03Outcome
The numbers

More work finished.

13%increase in task completion after the redesign

Related work the analysts did across several tools came together in one place. Screens, data and internal names stay private under NDA.
